Dornach - Patrick Uccelli

Dornach - Patrick Uccelli - Cover

The story of Dornach estate begins 5000 years ago.
It’s around that time that the first settlements were found in this area.
The first documented trace of the term “Dornachhof” (the hill of Dornach) dates back to 1288, ascribable to the Count of Tirol Mainardo II and the Duke of Carinthia, who founded Tirol.
In 1836 Anton von Gemini zu Kreuzhof acquires Dornach. His son Max, later on, will shape the estate as it is today, with terraced vineyards and the typical ancient stone walls.
The last heirs of the Hausmann family, (who married a member of the Gemini zu Kreuzhof), are three sister who inherit Dornach in 1980 and after years of efforts and dedication they complete the renovation of the estate.
Today we, the heirs of the Von Hausmann and the Von Gelmini families, look after the vineyard and the property.
Patrick starts working in the company in 2008 and begins the conversion to organic farming and starts applying biodynamic principles to his agriculture.
Biodynamics is much more than a simple farming technique for us. Patrick and his wife Karoline experience it as a broad development process that involves vineyards, vegetable gardens, animals and finally engages us too.
